Spiders are free to live with man and eat the insects in our homes as long as they are never seen. Should a spider ever make itself visible to man, it has broken the agreement and must be killed.

I have a similar agreement - I'm willing to spare the lives of all insects beyond my door, going to great lengths to tippy-toe around ants on the sidewalk - but any that venture within the 4 walls that mark my territory are persecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
